Former NBA star and now NBA commentator Charles Barkley joked when he learned that Auburn University, where he attended for three years, will erect a statue honoring him.

“I just hope it’s skinny,” said Barkley, who recently lost 27 pounds.

Former Major League Baseball and National Football League great Bo Jackson announced during a celebration at Jordan-Hare Stadium that the statue would be constructed. Barkley, an Alabama native, played for Auburn from 1981 to 1984.

Barkley played for the Philadelphia 76ers, Phoenix Suns and the Houston Rockets. He was named the NBA’s most-valuable player in 1993.
