Lauded Film Moonlight Expected to See Daylight as an Oscar Contender

Moonlight, the motion picture with a mostly black cast, continues to rack up film industry awards and is creating buzz as an Oscar contender.

At the 26th annual  Gotham Independent Film Awards, Moonlight, which is about growing up black and gay, won for best screenplay, best feature, special jury award for ensemble performance and the Gotham Independent Film Audience Award. The awards ceremony was held November 28th.

The National Board of Review on November 29th named Moonlight’s Naomie Harris best supporting actress and Moonlight one its top films.  Indie Wire reported that Moonlight is a serious Oscar contender.

O.J. : Made in America, a bio-pic about O.J. Simpson,  was named best documentary by Gotham and The National Board of Review. Ezra Edelman, son of Marian Wright Edelman – of the Children’s Defense Fund, directed the film.
