The spotlight was once focused entirely on world-class gymnast Simone Biles and on NBA star Kawhi Leonard for their world-class accomplishments.
However, the attention is now focused on their siblings for the crimes they are accused of committing.
Cleveland police have charged Tevin Biles-Thomas, Simone Biles’ brother with three counts of murder for a deadly New Year’s Eve shooting.
A group of men crashed a party and were asked to leave. They refused, and a fight broke out that was punctuated by gunfire leaving three men dead. Biles-Thomas also faces charges of voluntary manslaughter, felonious assault, and perjury.
Biles-Thomas, an active-duty soldier stationed with the U.S. Army in Georgia, has pleaded not guilty to the charges.
Simone Biles wrote via twitter:
“My heart aches for everyone involved, especially for the victims and their families,” Biles write via Twitter. “There is nothing that I can say that will heal anyone’s pain, but I do want to express my sincere condolences to everyone affected by this terrible tragedy. I ask everyone to please respect my family’s privacy as we deal with our pain. XO.”
In another deadly incident involving the relative of a famous athlete, Kimesha Monae Williams, the 35-year-old sister of Kawhi Leonard, who led the Toronto Raptors to their first NBA championship this year, has been charged
Police arrested the two women September 3. Assad died September 4.
The 28-year-old Leonard recently signed a three-year $103 million contract with the Los Angeles Clippers.
