A white gunman, wearing body armor and carrying a rifle with a hundred rounds of ammunition, shot to death nine people, including six blacks, early Sunday morning in a Dayton, Ohio, entertainment district.
The deadly shooting by Connor Betts, 24, who lived in the mostly white suburb of Bellbrook, occurred several hours after Patrick Cruisus shot to death 20 people and wounded 26 others at a Walmart in El Paso, Texas. Cruisus, who lived in Allen, Texas, was armed with an AK47 assault used in Vietnam. He surrendered to police.
According to police, Betts shot and killed Lois Oglesby, 27, Saeeh Saleh, 38, Logan Turner, 30, Nicholas Cumer, 25, Beatrice Warner-Curtis, 36, Monica Brickhouse, 39, Derrick Fudge, 25, and Thomas McNichols, 25. Betts also shot to death his younger sister, Megan. She was 22. Police later killed Betts.
Connor Betts reportedly was bullied while a student at Bellbrook High School. He made a list of people he wanted to kill. The school expelled him and later readmitted him.
Police said he does not have a criminal record.
