Formula 1 driver Lewis Hamilton on Sunday won his fifth British Grand Prix, pulling within a point of tying Ferrari’ Sebastian Vettel for the world driving championship with 10 contests remaining in the 2018 racing season.
Hamilton, a black Englishman, who drives for Mercedes, has 176 points to Vettel’s 177.
By winning the British Grand Prix, which is held at Silverstone, Hamilton became the third driver in the race’s history to take the checkered flag five times. Jim Clark and Alain Prost are the first two Formula 1 drivers to have that honor.
Sunday’s victory was Hamilton’s 57th career win and his 110th podium finish. Hamilton started in the pole position.
