Reigning Formula 1 driving champion Lewis Hamilton finished second in Sunday’s Russian Grand Prix, but Hamilton said he would have won if a water pressure issue hadn’t forced him to nurse his car across the finish line.
“There wasn’t a doubt in my in my mind I could win it,” Hamilton said on Formula One’s website.”I had the pace, but I had a problem with the engine again, so I had to back off.”
He finished second to Nico Rosberg, his Mercedes teammate and rival, and this season’s overall points leader.
Sunday’s race was the highest finish so far this year for Hamilton, who won back-to-back championships in 2015 and 2014. He also won the drivers’ championship in 2008 http://www.northstarnewstoday.com/formula-1/lewis-hamilton-is-ready-to-defend-his-formula-1-championship/.
This year, his car has been plagued by mechanical problems, affecting his performance.
