Los Angeles is living up to its name the “City of Angeles” after announcing that it will be the only American city to offer all residents free Covid-19 tests.
Mayor Eric Garcetti announced on Wednesday that Los Angeles, the nation’s second-largest city with a population of more than 10 million, is now offering the tests to residents of the city of Los Angeles and Los Angeles County whether or not they are experiencing symptoms of the virus.
The tests will be administered at eight locations in Los Angeles. Residents can log on https://lacovidprod.service-now.com/rrs to schedule a test or have questions answered.
Men and women who have fevers and are experiencing extreme shortness of breath should call their physician right away, the website warned.
The testing site, which began with one site staffed by members of the Los Angeles Fire Department, has expanded to eight sites throughout the city and 34 across the region which is 4,752 square miles.
Los Angeles is now working with actor Sean Penn’s emergency response organization, CORE, which has already administered 140,000 tests since March 20.
