The racist history of banking

This video gives the real reasons for racial wealth gaps, which has roots in reconstruction and continues with common practices that exist today, according to several sources, including the excellent book “The Color of Law: A Forgotten History of How Our Government Segregated America,” by Richard Rothstein of the Economic Policy Institute, NAACP Legal Defense and Educational Fund and the Thurgood Marshall Institute.

Federal, state and local governments reinforced neighborhood segregation that led to denial of mortgages and equal housing to African Americans.
