If you thought President Donald Trump spun stories out of thin air about Barack Obama, you should read what Joe Ricketts, the patriarch of the family that owns the Chicago Cubs, wrote in a typo-filled email that embraces every conspiracy theory about the nation’s first black president that easily reminds readers of the film “The Manchurian Candidate.”
Ricketts emailed a scathing document on April 22, 2011, supporting unfounded allegations that Obama wasn’t an American citizen and that Obama wasn’t his name.
“[Donald]Trump is correct, Barry Soetoro, AKA Barack Obama, is hiding something in his past …and it may not be his citizenship,” Ricketts wrote in the email obtained by SplinterNews.com., owner of the publications Jezebel and The Root. Ricketts supported Trump for president.
The email, titled “Obama’s Past—A Bedtime Story?,” accused Obama of working as a drug mule and indicated that he was possibly gay. The email was written by Joe Ricketts and sent to JG, who is not identified. The next sentence reads: ‘have you any interest in this J?’, who is also not identified.
In the email, Ricketts said Obama was adopted by Lolo Soetoro, his Indonesian stepfather. Barry’s name was legally changed to Barry Soetoro. There is no evidence Barry Soetoro legally changed his name to Barack Obama, Ricketts alleges in his email.
And then it gets worse.
Ricketts alleges that Soetoro dropped out of Occidental [College] and ended up in New York homeless and on drugs. He became friends with an unnamed Pakistani who enabled Obama to travel to Indonesia to renew his passport. When he returned to the U.S., Rickets implies Obama worked as drug mule and a male prostitute.
Ricketts alleges that Obama never attended Columbia University and that he lied his way into Harvard University after the Saudi Royal Family gifted the university $20 million. The Saudi Royal Family donated the money after Obama told them he was fighting in Afghanistan with the Muslim Jihad against the Russians.
At Harvard, Obama became the first black president of the law review, but Ricketts claims Obama never wrote a single article for the law review, which isn’t true according to the publication Politico.
None of what Ricketts alleges is true. Obama attended Harvard. Law School from 1988 to 1991. He attended Columbia University from 1981 to 1983 and Occidental College from 1979 to 1981.
After earning a law degree at Harvard, Obama returned to Chicago. Ricketts alleges that Obama’s future wife Michelle secured him a job at the law firm where she was employed. In interviews, Michelle said she thought Obama was a “brother who just could talk straight.” Ricketts says almost the same thing, arguing Obama got ahead because he spoke like a “white man.”
The Ricketts Family has issued an apology and the Cubs announced that Joe Ricketts has nothing to do with the team’s operation. The Cubs’ season opens March 28.
