Coutinho, who is known to her friends as “Maju” said during a live national broadcast she was shocked by the offensive comments. But Coutinho was extremely happy to know she was supported by the majority of viewers.

Willian Bonner, her prime-time television news colleague, led a massive support campaign for Coutinho who has more than 52,000 Facebook followers.

The hashtag #SomosTodosMaju (We are all Maju) was on top of Twitter Trend Topics for several days.  Coutinho is 37 and she is from Sao Paulo.
