You Be The Judge
Arron Judge of the New York Yankees Wednesday hit his 61st home run, trying a record set by Roger Maris in 1961. Judge hit the sinker off left hander Tim Mayza, sending the Yankee fans into a wild celebration in Toronto as he rounded the base pads and headed for home where teammates greeted him with hearty hugs. Judge gave the home run ball to Patty, his mom, and he met with Roger Maris Jr., Maris’s son. Maris’ single-season MLB record had been broken by both Mark McGwire and the Cubs’ Sammy Sosa in 1998, and then Barry Bonds of the Giants in 2001 with a still-standing record of 73.
