Jeffries gives his first speech as the Democratic leader

Hakeem Jeffries January gave his first speech as leader of the House Democratic Caucus and the Minority Leader in the House of Representatives and took a poke at Former President Donald Trump.

Jeffries said the Democrats will offer “maturity over Mar-a-Lago,” a slap at Trump.

Jeffries succeeded former Speaker Nancy Pelosi of California.

Pelosi, the first female speaker, held the job from 2007 to 2010. Jeffries praised her leadership.

He continued and said, “we [Democrats ] will never compromise our principles.”

“House Democrats will always put American values over autocracy,” he said.
