Tennis star Naomi Osaka said she is pregnant with her first child.
Shortly after withdrawing from the 2023 Australian Open, the Grand Slam champion announced that she was pregnant.
“The past few years have been interesting to say the least, but I find that its the most challenging times in life that may be the most fun,” she tweeted on Jan. 11 alongside a sonogram photo.
”These few months away from the sport have really given me a new love and appreciation for the game I’ve dedicated my life to.”
“I realize that life is so short, and I don’t take any moments for granted; every day is a new blessing and adventure,” Osaka, 25, continued. “I know I have so much to look forward to in the future. One thing I’m looking forward to is for my kid to watch one of my matches and tell someone, ‘that’s my mom, ha ha.”
She has been linked to rapper Cordae for the past few years. He is the father of the child.
Osaka is a four-time Grand Slam singles champion, with two Australian Open and two U.S. Open titles.
Her seven titles on the WTA Tour also include two at the Premier Mandatory level. At the 2018 US Open and the 2019 Australian Open, Osaka won her first two major titles in back-to-back tournaments.
