Bob Marley’s grandson Joseph ‘Jo Mersa’ Marley is dead

No cause of death given

Bob Marley’s grandson Joseph “Jo Mersa†Marley died on Dec. 26 in Miami. He was 31. He was born in 1991.

His representative told Rolling Stone on Tuesday of his death. He died in Miami.

Jo Mersa’s death was reported in a tweet by journalist Abka Fitz-Henley, and according to WZPP Radio, he was found in his car. The cause of death has not yet been revealed.

He was the son of Stephen Marley, one of Bob Marley’s 11 children. Bob Marley died in 1981. 

Jo Mersa attended Palmetto High School before enrolling at Miami Dade College where he studied studio engineering. 

In 2010, he released his first song “My Girl,†a collaboration with his cousin Daniel Bambaata Marley. 

He later released “Comfortable,†an album, and “Eternal,” another album, was released last year.

Jamaica’s Prime Minister, Andrew Holness, honored Jo Mersa following his death.

Jamaican American musician Shaggy also posted a photo of Jo Mersa on Instagram.



He is survived by his wife and daughter.
