Eddie Murphy to receive Golden Globe Award
Comedian and serious actor Eddie Murphy will receive the Cecil B. DeMille Award at the 80th Annual Golden Globe Awards in January.
“We are thrilled to be celebrating the lasting impact on film and television that his career in front of or behind the camera has through the decades,” said Helen Hoehne, president of the Hollywood Foreign Association, said in a statement.
Murphy has starred in films including “48 Hours,” “Trading Places” and “Dolemite Is My Name,” which was about a struggling actor, singer, and comedian who makes a movie.
It was nominated for a Golden Globe Award for best picture in 2020 and Murphy as best actor.
Cecil B. DeMille was an American film director, producer, and actor.
Between 1914 and 1958, DeMille made 70 features, both silent and sound films.
