Drug dealer sentenced for killing actor Michael K. Williams

Irvin Cartagena sold the fatal drug dose of heroin laced with fentanyl that killed actor Michael K. Williams.

As part of his guilty plea, the defendant said his actions “resulted in the death of Michael K. Williams.”

“He dealt the fatal dose that killed Michael K. Williams,” the lawyer told a Manhattan Federal Court. Cartagena faces up to 40 years in prison.

Williams, who played a gay man and killer named Omar, on “The Wire,” a popular television series, died at age 54 in 2021.
