Sergio Brown was arrested for his mother’s murder, but is he mentally ill?

After Sergio Brown, a former NFL player, was arrested and charged with killing his mother Myrtle, he claimed the Maywood police and the FBI were involved in the killing.

“Fake news. Fake news. Fake news,” Brown said in the video which he tagged on ESPN. “It has to be the FBI that came into my house on Bob Marley’s death day with the 511 haze and gas unwarranted. They kidnapped me twice from home – the Maywood Police Department. It had to be the FBI or the Maywood police.”

“I thought my f—ing mama was on vacation in Sinaloa. That’s f—ing fake news. Get the f— out of my goddamn face. She’s retired, and you want to come to me? The FBI had to do it. They have some power to do some s— like that. What the f— is going on? That’s fake news,” He said.

In one video, Brown, 35, claimed his mother, Myrtle Brown, 73, was not dead but was actually on vacation in Mexico. Brown also accused the Maywood Police and the FBI of kidnapping him and mocked their attempts to locate him.

Does that sound like Brown is lucid?

Myrtle Brown was found dead in a creek near her home last month. Authorities ruled her death a homicide, and her son, Sergio, was listed as the prime suspect.

Investigators said Brown had traveled to Mexico. He was recently taken into custody on Tuesday near San Diego. He has now been flown by to Maywood, Ill., a suburb of Chicago, where he was born and raised.

Brown joined the Patriots as an undrafted free agent in 2010. He played two years in New England, followed by stints with the Colts, Jaguars, and Bills.
