Vida Blue, left-hander, for the Oakland Athletics has died

Vida Rochelle Blue Jr., a left-handed pitcher for the Oakland Athletics who lead the team to three World Series titles, died on May 6 of cancer.

Blue pitched from 1969 to 1986, most notably as an integral member of the dynasty that won three consecutive won three World Series Championships from 1972 to 1974.

He won the American League Cy Young Award and Most Valuable Player Award.

I last saw him in a documentary featuring Reggie Jackson, who played with Vida Blue on the Oakland Athletics.

During his 17-year career, he pitched for the Oakland Athletics (1969 to 1977), San Francisco Giants (1928-1981; 1985-86), and Kansas City Royals (1982-1983).
