Rachael Rollins resigns as U.S. Attorney for Massachusetts
Rachael Splaine Rollins, the first Black woman to be named U.S. Attorney for Massachusetts, resigned in the wake of an ethics probe.
She was accused of giving a reporter non-public information and getting 30 free tickets to Boston Celtics games and getting free tickets to boxing matches.
In a letter to President Joe Biden, Rollins thanked the White House for supporting her during her contentious nomination process and said she wishes the administration “the best of luck in the months and years ahead.â€
Her resignation comes two days after the release of scathing reports from the Justice Department’s inspector general and another watchdog that outlined a litany of alleged misconduct by the top federal law enforcement officer in Massachusetts.
